Animal Use returns
There is a regulatory requirement for reports on the use of animals by licensed institutions to be made to the Secretary of the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR) on a yearly basis. This return is to be provided by 31 March of each year using correct forms. Licence-holders will be contacted prior to that date.
Returns data are compiled to produce the "Statistics of Animal Experimentation Victoria".
Animal Use Returns must be completed and submitted to the department for Scientific Procedures Premises Licences, Scientific Procedures Fieldwork Licences and Specified Animal Breeding Licences held for any period during the year. If no animals were assigned to projects or held in breeding colonies during the year, only Part B of the form needs to be completed.
