Automatic Milking System project
Automatic milking systems (AMS) have been in Australia for a number of years. The department has, with co-funding from Dairy Australia, put together an overview of what it is like to manage a farm which uses AMS technology.
We have worked with service providers in all dairy regions of Australia, with the aim of helping farmers make good decisions regarding whether or not to install AMS technology.
Six case studies and three videos have been prepared which will help farmers in assessing whether AMS technology is suitable for their operation, personality, and situation. These case studies draw out the experiences of the early-adopters to help make transitioning to an automatic milking system smoother for the next generation of adopters.
