Information for Individuals, farm animals & small businesses in the Northern Mallee
Victorian and Australian Government assistance is available to help affected communities recover from the major storm event that impacted people and properties in the Mildura and Northern Mallee areas on Friday, 11 November 2016. Affected individuals, farm families and small businesses can access the range of government and industry support available immediately and outlined below.

Household and Individual Support
Emergency Relief Assistance Payments
Payments of up to $520 per adult and $260 per child (up to a maximum of $1,300 per eligible household) is available to help meet immediate needs, including emergency food, shelter, clothing, and personal items.
Emergency Re-establishment Grants
Up to $32,500 per eligible household experiencing financial hardship, who have been flood affected at their primary place of residence. The grants are available for clean-up, emergency accommodation, repairs, rebuilding (a principal place of residence), and replacing some damaged contents.
Farm Household Allowance
Income support payment, available to eligible farmers & their families experiencing financial hardship.

North West Rural Financial Counselling Service (RFCS)
Free and independent financial information, options, decision support and referral services. The Rural Financial Counselling Service provides free rural financial counselling to farmers, fishing enterprises, forestry growers and harvesters, and small, related businesses who are suffering financial hardship.
This service can assist farmers to make informed decisions, and work through the implications of the current situation for their business.

On-Farm Damage Assessment
On-farm damage assessment
Growers are urged to report any crop damage to Agriculture Victoria. Include your name, estimated hectares damaged, estimated percentage of crop loss, estimated tonnes lost.
Call 136 186 to arrange for an Agriculture Victoria representative to visit and do an assessment with you.
Technical information, such as managing grapevines after hail damage, is available from Agriculture Victoria or your industry peak body.
