Water rates used in horticulture
Report prepared by Alex Perera, Department of Economic Development, Jobs Transport and Resources, May 2012
This report details the findings of an internet-based questionnaire run by the Agriculture Services and Biosecurity Operations division within DEDJTR to benchmark water rates commonly used in horticulture.
There were 390 responses received from growers, resellers and industry bodies, all from highly varied locations and horticultural backgrounds across Australia.
The project confirmed that many of the water rates supplied by industry to the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, for use by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority when setting mandatory no-spray zones on product labels were consistent with the water rates gathered through the survey.
