Support package for Northern Victoria dairy industry
On 31 May, 2019, Minister for Agriculture Jaclyn Symes announced a $2.71 million support package for the Northern Victoria dairy industry.
The package includes:
- Additional Rural Financial Counsellors and specialised support for dairy farmers in Northern Victoria.
- Small Business Financial Counsellors to support non-agricultural local small businesses in Northern Victoria, impacted by drought and ongoing dairy industry pressures.
- A further $1.4 million boost for the On-Farm Drought Infrastructure Support Program.
- $315,000 for Murray Dairy to re-establish the Rural Skills Connect Program.

Service and support is available from the Rural Financial Counselling Service by calling 1800 686 175 or by speaking to a local financial counsellor. Offices are located across Victoria and counsellors can visit a business or residence to provide advice.
New feeding livestock website
We've recently launched a comprehensive feeding livestock website with all the tools, resources and calculators you’ll need during drought and other times when pasture is limited.
The drought and dry seasons phone seminars/webinars which focussed on assisting livestock producers manage farms in drought and dry seasonal conditions were recorded and are now available online:
Apply for a grant soon to ensure you don’t miss out!
Grants are now available to support pasture renovation and the installation of water infrastructure and other on-farm drought infrastructure.

Farm Business Assistance payments of $2,500 or $3,500 are available to eligible farmers to assist in easing financial pressures. Apply for a grant before June 30, 2019 to ensure you don’t miss out (eligibility restrictions apply). Visit Rural Finance or call 1800 260 425 for more information.

Drought and Dry Seasonal Conditions Support Services booklets now available
The 2019 Drought Support Services in Central and East Gippsland and the 2019 Dry Seasonal Conditions Support Services in Northern and North West Victoria booklets are now available.
These booklets provide a comprehensive list of all the Victorian and Federal Government’s drought and dry seasonal conditions support initiatives in addition to region specific information including financial and family support, health support, farm and small business support and community programs.
