Farming and Community Group Drought Funding grants program now open!
The Victorian Government has opened the Farming and Community Group Drought Funding program which aims to increase and strengthen farmers’ technical knowledge and capability, enabling farm businesses and landholders to be more prepared and responsive to drought and dry seasonal conditions.
Landcare and land management groups, industry groups, farming systems groups, farming discussion groups and not for profit and community organisations in Victoria are invited to submit an application for up to $25,000 to engage a technical expert and/or specialists to deliver an event/s which will deliver timely, relevant and appropriate technical information to assist dryland and irrigated farm businesses and landholders to plan or manage the impacts of drought and dry seasonal conditions.
Preference will be given to projects that are in Wellington or East Gippsland shires, far North-West Victoria (Millewa-Carwarp and surrounds) and the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District (GMID).
The 2020 round of grants is expected to be competitive and groups are encouraged to be thorough when preparing and submitting applications.
- Grant applications will open on 13 March 2020 and close 1 April 2020 at 11.59pm.
- Activities must be completed no later than 14 June 2020.
- Evaluation, expenditure report, invoices, statutory declaration and, final report must be submitted to the department no later than 21 June 2020.

On-Farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme
The On-Farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme provides a one-off 25 per cent rebate up to $25,000 (GST exclusive) to eligible primary producers for the purchase and installation of emergency water infrastructure for livestock and for permanent horticultural plantings.
Eligible farm businesses in the following Local Government Areas may apply: Alpine, Benalla, Buloke, Campaspe, East Gippsland, Gannawarra, Greater Bendigo, Greater Shepparton, Hindmarsh, Horsham, Indigo, Loddon, Mildura, Moira, Northern Grampians, Strathbogie, Swan Hill, Towong, Wangaratta, Wellington, Wodonga and Yarriambiack.
Farm businesses in other parts of the state can make an application if they can demonstrate a critical water need resulting from current seasonal conditions, these applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Farm Machinery Improvement Grants now available!
The Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF) has opened the Farm Machinery Improvement Grants Program to assist farm businesses in the Millewa region of far North-West Victoria.
A grant of up to $10,000 is available per eligible dryland farm business to maintain essential on-farm machinery and equipment to meet key operational requirements and prepare for the 2020 growing season.
This program is being funded through the Victorian Government’s Drought Support Package.
Household financial relief is now available
The CWA of Victoria’s Drought Relief program has been provided a funding boost by the Victorian Government for the provision of household financial relief.
A grant payment of up to $3,000 per individual applicant and/or household is available for farming families, farm workers and contractors that are drought-affected and reliant on farming as their primary source of income.
This program is being funded through the Victorian Government’s Farmers’ Drought Fund - Household Financial Relief program announced on 2 October 2019.

On-Farm Drought Resilience Grant Program now open!
The Victorian Government is continuing to provide support for farmers facing drought and dry conditions across Victoria.
The On-Farm Drought Resilience Grant Program is now available to assist eligible farm businesses to invest in on-farm drought preparedness and to seek business advice.
