Getting a Property Identification Code
Property Identification Codes (PICs) are used by the Victorian Government for tracking of livestock and plant materials for market access, food safety and disease control purposes. The contact details registered with a PIC enable us to inform the property owner or occupier about any requirements associated with a pest or disease outbreak.
PICs can be obtained from us free of charge.
Do I need a PIC?
If you graze livestock on your property, you are required by law to have a PIC to enable the department to manage and notify you of disease outbreaks. Further details are set out in the Livestock PIC section of the website.
Since 1 July 2012, if you grow 0.5 hectares or more of grapevines within Victoria, you are also required by law to have a PIC. See the Plant Industry PIC section for more details.
