Victorian Agricultural Advisory Council
The Victorian Government established a Victorian Agricultural Advisory Council (VAAC) to advise the Minister for Agriculture on agriculture industry pressures, seasonal and economic conditions and impacts, and industry and rural adjustment. VAAC is an advisory body and not a decision making body.
The council has been in operation since August 2013 and operates under a Terms of Reference.
a. The council may comprise up to ten members with experience and knowledge relevant to Victorian agriculture, and currently comprises seven members plus the chairperson.
b. Unless otherwise determined, the term of office of each member may last up to three years.
c. Reappointment of a member to the council for a consecutive term will be at the Minister's discretion.

The Minister for Agriculture, the Hon Jaala Pulford MP, has appointed eight members to VAAC

The current members' term expires at the end of October 2018.
Requirements of members
VAAC meetings are held 2 to 4 times per year. The initial term of the VAAC is three years. The timing of meetings will be determined by the Council and depends on the nature of issues considered and outcomes required. In addition to meetings, members may be required to commit additional time for preparation and consultation with stakeholders and networks.
All members must work openly, cooperatively and effectively as part of a small, but diverse group committed to providing sound advice to the Minister. VAAC members are required to participate in high level dialogue with relevant stakeholders on issues within the scope of the Council.
If eligible, the Chair and members are paid sitting fees in accordance with the provisions in the Department of Premier and Cabinet's (DPC) Appointment and Remuneration Guidelines for Victorian Government Boards Statutory Bodies and Advisory Committees. Member's reasonable travelling and other allowances are paid at the rates that apply for employees of the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources.
