(Caitlin Sauro – Upskill and Invest Young Farmers Scholarship Recipient)
[Caitlin] I wanted to apply for the Young Farmers Scholarship because I felt that I wanted to further my skills in the management side of the farm rather than the laborious duties of the farm.
[Voice over] Caitlin is among 25 young farmers who have received a Victorian Government Upskill and Invest – Young Farmers Scholarship. The scholarships invest in the next generation of farmers. For Caitlin, the $10,000 scholarship allowed her to develop her farming practice and apply some of the learnings from the study to her teaching.
[Caitlin] Without being too biased, agriculture is a fantastic industry and such a broad industry. You can basically do anything. Also as I'm a school teacher, and I teach agriculture and horticulture, it allowed me to further my skill as a teacher and whatever I learnt from the course I was able to stem it down to the students as well.
[Voice over] The Scholarships are helping young farmers access exciting opportunities and build rewarding agricultural careers. They are also a confidence booster for young farmers and agricultural professionals.
