Timber harvest operators licence
Timber harvesting operator licences (now called forest operator licences) are now obtained through ForestWorks.
The Victorian Government no longer manages timber harvesting operator licences. A Victorian Government review identified that the Timber Harvesting Operators Licence (THOL) system should not be a legislative requirement as it duplicates existing occupational health and safety and environmental legislation.
There is strong industry support for an industry-led skill recognition scheme to replace the THOL system. ForestWorks is managing the new industry based competency licensing scheme in Victoria. It provides consistent operating standards in tree felling and tree harvesting activities, with a focus on safety and the environment. Existing THOLs have been rolled-over into this new scheme.
Further information in relation to this scheme can be obtained by visiting the ForestWorks website or by contacting ForestWorks on 1800 177 001 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
