Cannabis in Victoria
Cannabis is defined under the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act 1981 as a narcotic plant. The cultivation of cannabis in Victoria is prohibited, unless otherwise approved by either the State Government or Commonwealth Government.
At present, the only allowable cannabis production in Victoria is of low THC hemp for non-therapeutic purposes under licence from Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR).
