Murray Valley Wine Grape Industry Development Committee changes
Outcome of consultation sessions on a Murray Valley Wine Grape (MVWG) Industry Development Committee
Agriculture Victoria, along with its New South Wales counterpart, conducted four industry consultation sessions on 28‑29 June 2016 in the Murray Valley region. The sessions aimed to help local wine grape growers understand more about creating a new Industry Development Committee (IDC).
The current Industry Development Order, which establishes the current IDC, will expire on 9 December 2016. This process is about asking local wine grape growers if they would like a new Murray Valley Wine Grape Industry Development (Extra-Territorial) Order 2016.
Broad support for the proposed Order was indicated at the consultation sessions, including for the services to be provided by a new Murray Valley Grape Industry Development Committee.
The Minister for Agriculture, Jaala Pulford has now issued a direction for a poll of eligible wine growers to be held on the question of whether the Order should be made. The direction was made via a notice in the Victoria Government Gazette, No. G 31 Thursday 4 August 2016.
The poll will be facilitated by the Victorian Electoral Commission and will soon be made available to eligible wine grape growers.
Information about who is eligible to vote can be found in the report below.
Note section 5.3 of the report has been amended. It now provides up-to-date information on who is eligible to vote.
