BREEDPLAN
BREEDPLAN - enhancing Australian beef cattle breeding
BREEDPLAN is an International beef cattle performance recording and evaluation scheme, based in Armidale, NSW. Operating since the mid 1980s, it is Australia’s national beef recording scheme.
BREEDPLAN is a modern genetic evaluation system for estimating the true breeding values of cattle, Estimated Breeding Values (EBV).
EBVs are calculated by measuring the performance of individual animal’s traits including birth weight, growth, fertility, calving ease and carcase attributes. This combined data helps accelerate genetic progress, improve breeding operations and increase productivity and cattle prices.
BREEDPLAN can be used for breeding stud or commercial cattle or both.
BREEDPLAN uses Best Linear Unbiased Prediction (BLUP) technology.
Breeders can find current Breed Average EBVs and Percentile Tables specific to breeds including Wagyu, Sales, Angus and Brahman for Breed Societies using GROUP BREEDPLAN evaluation.
BREEDPLAN also offers a searchable database of Breed Societies in Australia and worldwide.
