Resources for egg producers with 50 or more egg producing birds
The following information and templates are provided for producers with 50 or more birds to help you to meet the requirements of the standard and manage the food safety hazards associated with egg production.
To comply with the standard you must have and follow a food safety management statement that is approved or recognised by the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR) through one of the following methods:
Either – be in a recognised industry or commercial quality assurance program
If you belong to an industry or commercial quality assurance program that has been recognised by the Secretary of the DEDJTR you are meeting the requirement to have and follow a food safety management statement.
- 'The Egg Corp Assured, the national egg quality assurance program', has been recognised by DEDJTR as meeting the requirements of the standard.
- Industry QA programs Hencare and Rangecare are being assessed however they have not been recognised at this stage.
Or – complete and follow our food safety management statement
We have produced 'Food safety for egg producers' as a resource for producers. It includes guidance material, a food safety management plan template (plus a worked example) and templates for record keeping.
You may keep your food safety management statement and records in a format that suits you (e.g. hand written, computer generated, using record books or as part of a quality assurance program). The only requirement is that they contain all the required information, are clear and accurate, and must be readily available to an authorised officer upon request.
