Subsidy for Johne’s disease vaccine for cattle
An industry funded subsidy is available in Victoria for the purchase of Johne's disease vaccine for cattle from 1 July 2016. This will provide a $12.50 per dose subsidy (GST exclusive) for Silirum® Vaccine for eligible cattle producers.
The subsidy will be available for a three and a half year period to 31 December 2019.
Herds that are eligible for the subsidy are:
- Dairy herds that are infected with Johne's disease and participating in the Johne's Disease Calf Accreditation Program (JDCAP). Note that the herd must hold a current JDCAP Certificate of Compliance (Provisional Certificate if first year).
- Beef herds that are infected with Johne's disease and are not already receiving financial assistance through the Cattle Council Australia Financial and Non-Financial Assistance Package scheme for Johne's disease vaccination. Note that beef herds are not required to participate in the JDCAP.
The vaccine subsidy will be paid as a grant payment and is claimed from Agriculture Victoria by submitting a completed Application for Silirum Vaccine Subsidy Grant Payment form.
Herd owners / managers should seek advice about the use of Silirum® Vaccine from their veterinary practitioner.
Note that approval is not required from Agriculture Victoria for use of Silirum® Vaccine.
