New Invasive Species Management Legislation
The Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI) is developing new Invasive Species Management legislation to replace the noxious weeds and pest animal provisions of the Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994 and close the gaps in powers to deal with incursions of taxonomic groups currently not, or only partially, covered by Victoria's biosecurity legislation.
Public consultation on a discussion paper outlining the proposed framework for new invasive species management legislation commenced on Monday 13th of August and closed on Friday 05th of October. For more information on the outcomes of this consultation please visit the consultation page.
