10.30 am to 3.30 pm

The forum will consist of 2 sessions.

In Session 1, you will hear examples and case studies of localised nature-based offset markets already happening in Victoria.

After lunch, Session 2 will be a facilitated discussion and workshop to create the framework for future partnerships.

An introduction to carbon offsetting will also be included, so that everyone can fully participate on the day.

Interested staff, executives and councillors from metropolitan and regional councils, and partner agencies, are warmly invited to attend.

Dr Hugh Stewart, Hugh Stewart Consulting – agroforestry and carbon specialist

Hugh’s consulting services have included the economics of the forestry sector, environmental auditing, carbon accounting and auditing, and community forestry.

Matt Dawson, Manager Business Development, North Central Catchment Management Authority

Matt is experienced in connecting regional sustainability initiatives with funding pathways across natural capital investment, carbon markets, and biodiversity frameworks. He will talk about the Grow Towards Zero carbon project partnership between landholders and local government in north central Victoria.

Dean Thomson, Executive Officer, Northern Alliance for Greenhouse Action

Dean is an environment and climate change specialist with 20+ years’ experience. Dean will present a range of opportunities for local governments to invest into local nature-based carbon projects.

Bronwyn Chapman, Coordinator Environmental Programs, Murrindindi Shire Council

Bronwyn has a long history of supporting communities and councils in North East Victoria across environment, sustainability and climate action. Over the last two years she has led an innovative hybrid ACCU project in Murrindindi Shire.

Brooke Hermans, Associate RMCG, workshop facilitator

Brooke’s experience is founded in natural resource, water and waste management sectors supporting organisations to set strategy and attract significant investment.
