Managing kangaroos on your farm
The Victorian Government provided up to $1.8 million to help drought-affected farmers control eastern and western grey kangaroos under an approved authority to control wildlife (ATCW).
Farmers whose livestock were competing with kangaroos for fodder could apply for rebates to engage professional harvesters to manage kangaroos under an ATCW.
The On‑farm Kangaroo Control Rebate Program is now closed. Applications closed on 30 June 2026.
The program covered:
- Rebates of up to $450 (ex-GST) per farm, up to 3 claims.
- Farmers to contribute at least 25% of the cost.
- Fast-track ATCW permit processing by the Conservation Regulator.
- Funding was available until 30 June 2026.
