Creating a COVIDSafe workplace

All Victorian businesses are required to have a COVIDSafe Plan.

Workplace (Additional Industry Obligations) Directions have been issued for some industries. The directions are designed to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Victorian workplaces and manage the risks associated with coronavirus (COVID-19).

The following agriculture-related businesses have additional obligations:

Seasonal horticulture obligations

Employers (farm businesses/hosts) that undertake horticultural seasonal work and labour hire providers that offer transport and/or accommodation for seasonal workers have additional obligations and must have a Seasonal Horticulture Workers COVIDSafe Plan.

The Seasonal Horticulture Workers COVIDSafe Plan has been developed to support horticulture operations using seasonal workers to safely operate by maintaining a COVIDSafe workplace and preparing for a suspected or confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the workplace.

The Industry Guidelines for Seasonal Horticulture and Seasonal horticulture factsheet outline what employers and labour hire providers must have in place to address the Workplace (Additional Industry Obligations) Directions.

The guidelines provide information on the additional requirements for:

  • testing and record-keeping
  • face masks
  • training and induction
  • workforce bubbles
  • accommodation
  • transport
  • cleaning and maintenance log.
