Property Identification Codes (PICS)
A PIC is required for any property where livestock are kept. It is a unique code allocated to land in Victoria that has certain livestock or animals on it. It helps us to contact you in the event of a fire, flood or emergency animal disease outbreak.

All cattle, sheep, goats and pigs must be tagged with an NLIS accredited tag or device before leaving a property. Tags or devices for identifying livestock form a vital part of Australia’s livestock traceability system. When an individual animal’s tag or device data is combined with a PIC, this enables traceability of that animal through out its life.
