Melbourne Market Authority Chair appointed
22 October 2026
The Victorian Government has appointed Paul Guerra as Chair of the Melbourne Market Authority (MMA) following a competitive recruitment process.
The MMA is the statutory authority responsible for overseeing the Melbourne Market at Epping, Australia's largest wholesale fruit, vegetable and flower market.
The Melbourne Market operates from a purpose-built facility in Epping and is vital to Victoria's food supply chain, supporting the movement of fresh produce from growers and wholesalers to retailers, food businesses and consumers.
Victoria's fresh produce sector plays an important role in the state's economy, with the Melbourne Market serving as a key distribution point for fruit, vegetables and flowers traded throughout Victoria and beyond.
Mr Guerra brings significant commercial, governance and stakeholder engagement experience to the role.
‘The Melbourne Market is a significant part of Victoria's fresh produce industry, and I am committed to supporting the market and its users in my role as Chair of the Melbourne Market Authority,’ Mr Guerra said.
His previous role as Chair of Queen Victoria Market provides experience in the governance and operation of a major fresh produce market precinct.
As Chair of the MMA, Mr Guerra will play a key role in supporting the governance, strategic direction and ongoing development of the Melbourne Market.
The MMA works to ensure the Melbourne Market continues to operate effectively and meet the needs of market users and the broader fresh produce industry.
