Glossary of terms
Here is a brief overview of some of the terms that relate to the way content is designed and built for the Agriculture Victoria website.
The range of material and assets on the website. Content includes text, visual and audio or interactive elements.
A group of words.
PDFs, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other content files.
We refer to our website audience as ‘users’, with some exceptions if needed for clarification.
The person who is responsible for content on a particular page. Note that there can only be one page owner per page.
Squiz Digital Experience Platform is the system that houses all the content published on agriculture.vic.gov.au. Pages are ‘built’ in Squiz using page templates and components, which translate into the design you see on the webpage.
These are the page components (such as text, links and images) that are used to ‘build’ the page in Squiz. They are the elements that page owners and the website team can use to provide information and determine the look of the page.
This describes how we organise, structure and label website content. The most visible application of the information architecture is website navigation.
This refers to the website elements that allow users to easily move through a website and find information. It includes elements like menus, links and breadcrumbs. Breadcrumbs are a navigational aid that shows users their location within the website’s hierarchy.
