PhD opportunities

Agriculture Victoria’s higher education program works in partnership with academia and industry to train and develop the next generation of STEM researchers and scientists for the benefit of Victoria’s agricultural industries and regional communities.

About the scholarship

Opportunities for successful candidates include:

  • a $37,000 per annum (2025 rate) tax-free stipend for up to 3.5 years
  • access to professional development programs
  • international travel opportunities
  • access to advanced technologies.

Delivering transformational science, Agriculture Victoria hosts PhD students enrolled through higher education partners including, but not limited to, University of Melbourne, La Trobe University, RMIT and Deakin University.

Where the research happens

Agriculture Victoria has locations across the state that focus on a wide range of agricultural industries including dairy, grains and horticulture, including pome fruits, summer fruits, grapes and almonds, plus natural resources, biosecurity and emerging agricultural industries.
