We can all make a difference
Small actions can have big impacts on preventing and managing the harms caused by pests and diseases. The things we do, or don’t do, can touch everything we value.
We can protect our farms and parks, our pets and gardens, the cultural integrity of the landscape, the safety of our food and the success of our industries.
We can all help prevent pests from getting into Victoria, contain outbreaks before they get out of hand, and manage endemic problems, giving every Victorian the benefit of a safer, more resilient environment, community and economy.
2019–2023 Victorian Government investment
The Strengthening Victoria’s Biosecurity System Program was a 4 year change program working with government, industry and community to protect Victoria from the harms of pests and diseases.
The Strengthening Victoria’s Biosecurity System (SVBS) Program focused on:
- a shared vision for biosecurity
- legislative reform
- more effective and efficient delivery of biosecurity services by Agriculture Victoria.
This program was part of the Victorian Government’s 2019 investment in biosecurity to strengthen the protections in place and ensure industry and the community can prepare for the future.
Ongoing work
Agriculture Victoria continues to work with people and organisations around Victoria to implement Victoria’s new Biosecurity Strategy.
