Where are the important worms found?

The most important worms in sheep include:

  • Brown stomach worm — abomasum or fourth stomach
  • Barbers Pole worm — abomasum
  • Black scour worm — small intestine
  • Liver fluke — liver
  • less common scour worms (Nematodirus) — small intestine.

Less significant parasites include:

  • cysts of tapeworm (for example, hydatids) — liver
  • Nasal bot — nasal passage
  • lungworms — lungs
  • T.ovis cysts — heart
  • stomach worm — rumen
  • tapeworm — small intestine
  • whipworm — caecum
  • large bowel worm.
