Changes to ICA-42: Nursery Freedom, Treatment and Inspection for Myrtle Rust

10 September 2026

What has changed

Agriculture Victoria has updated ICA-42: Nursery Freedom, Treatment and Inspection for Myrtle Rust to align with revised interstate requirements.

Key changes include:

  • removing requirements for an inspector to conduct property inspection at the annual compliance audit
  • removing requirements for myrtaceous plants sourced from other properties
  • updating requirements for suspected detections during inspection
  • revising PHAC distribution requirements.

What this means for ICA-42 accredited businesses

  • Accredited businesses must comply with all updated requirements during their annual compliance audits.
  • Accredited businesses may treat and certify myrtaceous plants sourced from other properties under their ICA-42 accreditation.
  • If a suspected myrtle rust detection is made during inspection, accredited businesses must follow the updated requirements.
  • Accredited businesses are no longer required to send PHAC copies to PIRSA under the updated procedure.
