Purification Standards for Solids and Recycled Water for Cattle Farming

This Order, made under section 42(2) of the Livestock Disease Control Act 1994, sets updated purification standards for biosolids and recycled water used on land accessed by cattle. Its purpose is to help reduce public health risks that may arise when cattle graze on areas where these materials are applied.

The Order replaces the previous standards issued in December 2023 (Victoria Government Gazette No. S71). It outlines approved purification methods that must be met before biosolids or recycled water can be safely used in connection with cattle. These standards ensure that treatment processes are effective in managing microbial risks and protecting animal and human health.
