Nalderun Education Aboriginal Corporation: education, healing and Caring for Country

We work with Nalderun Education Aboriginal Corporation (Nalderun) in Castlemaine on Djaara Country, at its property, Me Mandook Galk. Nalderun is establishing an Indigenous education place that supports learning, healing and Caring for Country. This involves restoring Me Mandook Galk and establishing an educational bush food garden.

We have:

• undertaken soil testing to guide garden bed placement and lay out
• helped to sort out land access issues for Me Mandook Galk
• facilitated a carbon audit for reducing emissions at Me Mandook Galk
• contributed to Nalderun’s bush foods micro-credential
• organised a study tour to help Nalderun share its journey with Djakitjuk Djanga Community of Practice (DD CoP)
• participated in Nalderun’s ‘World Views’ cultural competency course.

Nalderun’s CEO Kath Coff says FPAS has helped them to navigate the non-indigenous organisational space by connecting them to the right people and to technical advice. She says the World Views training strengthened the relationship because Nalderun was giving something back to Agriculture Victoria.
