Supporting the Budj Bim Rangers

For more than a decade, First Peoples Agriculture Service (FPAS) has supported the Budj Bim Rangers to strengthen Winda‑Mara Aboriginal Corporation’s (WMAC) beef cattle enterprise on Gunditjmara Country. This long-term partnership has included targeted workshops on:

  • low stress stock handling
  • beef marketing
  • biosecurity management

We have also worked with the rangers to develop a whole-farm plan for WMAC’s Kooreelah property. This included:

  • land classing and soil mapping
  • pasture management, including rotational and deferred grazing for native grass production
  • farm water supply design
  • climate change trends and projections for the Chetwynd area
  • drought and dry-season planning, including emergency management.

Our partnership with the Budj Bim Rangers is on-going.
