Targeted ground baiting transects are located on public land:

  • north, east and south of Benambra
  • south of Anglers Rest
  • north and south of Cobungra
  • south-east of Bindi
  • east of Tongio
  • north-east and south-west of Swifts Creek
  • surrounding Ensay
  • east, south and west of Brookville.

Trapping and priority 2 ground baiting transects are a network of tracks. These are located on public land:

  • surrounding Glen Valley, Benambra, Anglers Rest, Cobungra, Omeo, Bindi, Tongio, Swifts Creek, Ensay and Brookville.

The map shows within the Omeo, Swifts Creek, Ensay and Benambra wild dog management zone there is 256,069 hectares of public land, 176,894 hectares of land under the three-kilometre livestock protection buffer and 135,904 of private land. There are two Wild Dog Controllers, with a capacity for 6,000 trap nights and 284 kilometres of Targeted ground baiting transects.

There are three Community Wild Dog Control groups located within the Omeo, Swifts Creek and Benambra wild dog management zone. The Omeo and Benambra Community Wild Dog Control group includes private land near Cobungra, Omeo and Benambra. The Swifts Creek Community Wild Dog Control group includes private land near Brookville, Swifts Creek, Tongio and Bindi. The Ensay Community Wild Dog Control group includes private land near Ensay.

Aerial baiting occurs in remote areas of public land within the Omeo, Swifts Creek and Benambra wild dog management zone. Aerial baiting occurs twice a year on public land located:

  • east and south-east of Benambra
  • east and south-west of Omeo
  • south of Cobungra
  • surrounding Bindi
  • east of Tongio
  • east, south and west of Brookville
  • south and west of Ensay.
