Condition 52 - Tomato brown rugose fruit virus

The information within this Import Condition was current as of the date of printing: Wednesday, 15 January 2025.

New entry conditions or amendments may be implemented from time to time and are uploaded into the Plant Quarantine Manual.

It is recommended that you regularly check the http://www.agriculture.vic.gov.au/pqm website for the most up to date import conditions.

The entry or importation into Victoria of any host material is prohibited, unless the host material:

  1. originates from an area for which there is currently in force an area freedom certificate, being a certificate issued by an officer responsible for agriculture in the State or Territory from which the host material originated, certifying that the area from which the host material originated is known to be free of ToBRFV; or
  2. originates from a property in a state or territory where ToBRFV is known to exist, and that property is not under official control to eradicate, or prevent the spread of ToBRFV*; or
  3. enters Victoria under and in accordance with a permit issued by an inspector, and there is compliance with any conditions or requirements set out in the permit.

* For the purposes of clarity, host material originating from any property which is under official control to eradicate, or prevent the spread of ToBRFV, is prohibited entry into Victoria.

Definitions

‘agricultural equipment’ means any vehicle, equipment or other mechanical apparatus of any kind that has been used in relation to host plants.

‘host material’ means any host plant, agricultural equipment and used packaging.

‘host plant’ means any plant or plant product of tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum) and all species of Capsicum.
