After taking into consideration the diverse range of purposes for which horses are kept in Australia, current biosecurity threats and the cost of various National Horse Traceability System (NHTS) design options, the National Horse Traceability Working Group (NHTWG) has finalised its report to the Agriculture Ministers Meeting (AMM).
The final report is expected to be considered by AMM in coming months.
The Chair of the NHTWG, Stuart McLean, thanked members for their contribution and commitment to protecting the disease-free status of Australian horse population. He also thanked industry participants for their feedback on design options for a NHTS.
