Carbon Farming Outreach Program

The Carbon Farming Outreach Program assists Victorian farmers and land managers to understand carbon farming and how they can benefit from moving to a low-carbon future.

Program overview

The Carbon Farming Outreach Program provides independent information and training to Victorian farmers, helping them make informed decisions about carbon farming.

Carbon farming training is available to all farmers from all industries throughout Victoria.

Delivered in partnership with Victoria’s 10 Catchment Management Authorities (CMAs) and Landcare Victoria Inc, the program ensures that farmers and land managers across Victoria have access to free and trusted information and resources on carbon farming, including:

  • What is carbon farming?
  • Carbon farming benefits and risks
  • Sources of on-farm emissions and options to reduce emissions and store carbon
  • Calculating emissions and carbon storage for your property
  • Planning, reporting and monitoring carbon farming activities
  • Understanding carbon credit markets and opportunities from carbon credits

The Victorian Carbon Farming Outreach Program is delivered with funding support from the Commonwealth of Australia through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water under the National Carbon Farming Outreach Program.

The program is delivered through a partnership between Agriculture Victoria, 10 catchment management authorities, Landcare Victoria Inc and other bodies.
