Get into Gums – Adaptations (Year 11)
Get into Gums - Adaptations (Yr 11) aligns with Unit 2, Area of Study 2 of the VCE Biology Study Design. This workshop also aligns with Unit 3, Area of Study 1 of the VCE Environmental Science Study Design.
Get into Gums - Adaptations (Yr 11) has students explore the biodiversity and adaptations of eucalypts. Students rotate through three hands-on laboratory workstations that include:
- exploring physical features of branches and leaves in relation to the environment
- investigating microscopic reproductive adaptations of the woody gumnut fruit
- classifying eucalypt species using a dichotomous tree
- exploring eucalypt DNA using simple bioinformatics software.
