There is a lot of support out there for the next generation of food and fibre producers and rural leaders. Here you will find government, industry and community alike all want to help give you a leg up to your career in food and fibre.

Leadership development

  • Australia Rural Leadership Program
    A unique opportunity for selected rural and regional leaders to undertake a program of personal growth and develop the skills, knowledge and networks needed to be effective in regional, state, national and international arenas.
  • TRAIL Program
    The Australian rural leadership program runs TRAIL (Training Rural Australians In Leadership), an eight-day residential leadership program for emerging leaders.
  • Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership program
    The program, supported by NAB Agribusiness, is an intense 5 day workshop conducted on the college campus at Geelong, starting on the last Sunday in June each year.
  • National Rural Women's Coalition E-Learning Leadership Program
    The program aims to build the leadership and representative capacity of women in primary industries, to strengthen the productivity of their businesses and workplaces. The core of the program is to further develop the resilience of rural, regional and remote Australian communities in a rapidly changing climate.
  • Leadership Victoria
    Leadership Victoria exists to provide knowledge, to create networks and to enable people to create positive change within a global community.

Grants, funding and scholarships

  • Young farmer duty exemption or concession
    Eligible young farmers will be able to obtain a full stamp duty exemption for first farmland purchases worth up to $600,000, while a concession applies for purchases worth up to $750,000.
  • Gardiner Foundation Education Scholarships
    In 2012 the Gardiner Foundation made available $3.26 million of new funding for innovative projects which create impact across the dairy value chain. There are a variety of scholarship programs to assist with undergraduate or TAFE further education.
  • You Thrive Victoria
    Applications are open to Victorian Year 12 students who plan to attend university after they complete secondary school.
